Formulation Chemist
  • Location: Cheshire, UK
  • Job Type: Full-time, 4-Day Week (Monday to Thursday, 7am - 5pm)
  • Salary: £30k - £40k p/annum, dependent on experience

Join a well-established and innovative manufacturer in the personal care, pet care, and home fragrance sector. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Formulation Chemist to develop high-quality formulations across a diverse product range, ensuring creativity, sustainability, and compliance.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Develop and formulate a wide range of products including shampoos, shower gels, creams, lotions, body sprays, fragrances, pet grooming products, and home fragrance items like reed diffusers and room sprays.
  • Conduct stability, compatibility, and performance testing to ensure product quality and efficacy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, production, and regulatory to align product development with business goals.
  • Source and evaluate new raw materials and fragrance components, ensuring they meet quality standards and sustainability goals.
  • Maintain accurate formulation records and technical documentation to support product registration and compliance.
  • Ensure all products comply with UK/EU cosmetic regulations and safety standards.
  • Support the scale-up and production trials to facilitate smooth transitions from lab to production.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new ingredients, and technological innovations to enhance product offerings and processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in formulation within the personal care or fragrance manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of cosmetic regulations, product safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills, capable of leading projects from concept to launch.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
