Job summary

Welshpool-based role for the Fostering Service involves conducting thorough Form F assessments for prospective foster carers. You will manage the full assessment process from allocation to presentation at the Fostering Panel, producing evidence-based reports within deadlines and ensuring safeguarding compliance.

This 12-month contract pays £2,500 per completed assessment or £321.39 per day (outside IR35). The position requires 10 hours of work per week and is open to assessors living in Powys or

Qualifications

• Significant post-qualification experience in Children’s Social Care.
• Experience in conducting complex social work assessments and report writing.
• Ongoing professional development in fostering and children’s services.
• Form F assessments experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in fostering services or related specialist teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Form F (Wales) assessments for prospective foster carers.
• Oversee the assessment process from allocation to Fostering Panel presentation.
• Plan and execute assessment visits with applicants and relevant individuals.
• Collect, analyze, and evaluate information from interviews, references, and statutory checks.
• Assess applicants' strengths, vulnerabilities, and capacity to foster.
• Produce detailed, evidence-based Form F reports with recommendations.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of all assessment activities.
