Job summary

Cruise Control Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Forge Technician in Birmingham. The role involves safe operation of the forging press, maintenance of equipment, and active participation in continuous improvement within the Forge Department.

You will work 4 on 4 off days, with overtime opportunities and OEM-style training to develop technical skills. Suitable candidates will have electrical or mechanical maintenance experience, TPM knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance, ideally with an Apprenticeship.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Metal manufacturing technical knowledge and experience.
• Competence working with heavy machinery.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift truck (training will be given).
• Conversant with a TPM approach; drive and control systems.
• Good understanding and working knowledge of current safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate the forging press safely, meeting product quality and equipment parameters.
• Communicate effectively within the Forge Department regarding transfer of product between presses.
• Maintain all equipment to enable business requirements to be met.
• Support breakdown elimination and non-intrusive maintenance on the RUMX Forge.
• Contribute to continuous improvement with individual project ownership.

Shifts: 4 on 4 off (Days)

A vacancy has arisen within the Forge Department for a Forge Technician reporting to the Production Manager, working on a 4x4 Full Continental Day shift pattern.

Responsibilities

• The safe operation of the forging press, ensuring all outlined requirements related to the product quality and equipment parameters are adhered to.
• Effective communication within the Forge Department, specifically relating to the transfer of product between RUMX and Davy Presses.
• Ensuring all equipment is maintained to a standard which enables the business requirements to be achieved.
• Emphasis on breakdown elimination and problem solving, along with preventative and non-intrusive maintenance on the RUMX Forge.
• Direct input into the continuous improvement culture, which will include individual project ownership.

Qualifications

• Skill base that includes either electrical or mechanical maintenance, ideally an Apprenticeship.
• Problem‑solving skills.
• Metal manufacturing technical knowledge and experience.
• Competence working with heavy machinery.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift truck (although FLT training will be given).
• Conversant with a Total Planned Maintenance [TPM] approach; drive and control systems.
• Good understanding and working knowledge of current safe working practices.
