Job summary

Pulse Healthcare is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a secure forensic mental health service in Leeds. You will provide specialist psychiatric care to individuals within low, medium, and high-security units, working within the criminal justice system to manage complex cases.

Qualifications

• GMC registration with a CCT in Forensic Psychiatry.
• Experience in secure hospital settings or criminal law assessments.
• Knowledge of mental health law and forensic risk assessment tools.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and on-call payments/forensic allowances.
• Engagement with NHS leadership development and academic research opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic risk assessments and provide expert witness testimony.
• Develop rehabilitation pathways for patients moving to lower security.
• Coordinate care with probation services, police, and the Ministry of Justice.
• Provide leadership to forensic nurses, psychologists and social workers.
• Implement violence reduction strategies and risk management frameworks.
• Participate in multi-agency safeguarding meetings and advise on criminal responsibility.
