Role Overview

As a Forensic Healthcare Practitioner, you will work as part of a dedicated clinical team available 24/7, 365 days a year. Your role will involve:

  • Conducting clinical assessments and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Collecting forensic samples for use in the criminal justice system.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to custody staff.
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate records to support high standards of care. Conduct forensic sampling and assess fitness for detention, release, interview, and understanding of charges.
  • Evaluate alcohol and drug intoxication or withdrawal and retrieve blood samples under the Road Traffic Act.
  • Provide responsive, professional support to Custody Sergeants and Officers in assessing detainee healthcare needs.
  • Adhere to the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) 1984 Codes of Practice and agreed local protocols.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and contemporaneous records of clinical and forensic work.
  • Collaborate with custody staff, police officers, and external healthcare providers to ensure service excellence.
  • Support training and mentorship for new team members.
