Are you a Nurse or Paramedic looking for a new direction but not ready to leave your current role? Look at our bank opportunities. You will be working alongside the Police in custody suites caring for detainees, giving you a chance to help some of the most vulnerable people in society. We require Registered (Adult) Nurses / RGNs, or Paramedics with 2 years’ post‑qualification experience, who want to deliver gold‑standard care and be part of a team that is passionate about developing clinical, forensic and wider skills. You must be able to work flexibly not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.

Salary
  • £20.50 per hour – 1–2 shifts
  • £22.50 per hour – 3–5 shifts
  • £24.50 per hour – 6+ shifts
Responsibilities

The role involves providing physical, mental and wellbeing care to detained individuals, administering medication when needed, gathering forensic samples for police investigations, and recording all information on our computerised systems. You will assess whether patients are fit to be detained or released, work with local Liaison and Diversion teams to address root‑cause issues preventing future crime, and support holistic care in an energetic, varying shift environment. No previous forensic experience is required – we will provide all the necessary training.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN, RGN or RMN with dual registration) – 2 years post‑qualification, Band 5 minimum
  • Paramedic – 2 years post‑qualification
  • Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience in a patient‑facing role within a relevant field (General Practice, A&E, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Walk‑in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare or Ambulance Service)
  • HCPC/NMC registration (required)
  • Driving licence (required)
Additional Requirements
  • Must be a UK resident for 3 years with no gaps out of the country longer than 3 months
  • All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting
