Location: Aylesbury

Contract Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Salary: £29,344 - £44,919 per year + (dependent on experience)

About the Role

A forward-thinking secondary school in Aylesbury, rated 'Good' by Ofsted, is seeking a Food Technology specialist to join their dynamic Design & Technology department from December 2025 / January 2026. This role is open to both full-time and part-time applicants, offering flexibility to suit your professional and personal needs.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 available for suitable candidates)
  • Inspire students to develop a love for food preparation, healthy eating, and creative culinary skills
  • Teach a balanced curriculum that includes nutrition, food hygiene, sustainability, and practical cooking skills
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and inclusive classroom environment, including kitchen safety and hygiene standards
  • Track and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback to support learning
  • Contribute to curriculum development and support enrichment activities such as cookery clubs or themed days
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the DT department to share ideas and best practice
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Hold UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or be on a recognised route towards achieving it
  • Have a relevant degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, Catering, or a related field
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a practical, hands-on teaching style
  • Be confident in managing a kitchen classroom and maintaining high standards of health and safety
  • Have a genuine passion for helping students develop essential life skills
  • Possess strong organisational and communication skills
  • Be committed to professional development and continuous improvement in teaching and learning
