Job description
Food Technology Teacher - Southampton (Totton Area)

Start Date: November 2025

Contract: Maternity Cover until July 2025

Pay: £160 - £240 per day (dependent on experience)

Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm | Full-Time

Location: Near Totton, Southampton

Position Overview

Supply Desk is working in partnership with a secondary school located close to Totton, Southampton, to recruit a committed Food Technology Teacher. This maternity cover role begins in November 2025 and will run until July 2026, teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The successful teacher will be joining a supportive Design & Technology department, dedicated to engaging students in practical and creative learning. This opportunity is suitable for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators with a passion for Food Technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver creative and practical Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Encourage students to develop essential cooking skills, healthy eating knowledge, and a passion for food.
  • Track and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
  • Contribute to departmental development and curriculum planning.
  • Maintain high expectations for learning, behaviour, and achievement.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Food Technology, Design & Technology, or a related subject (essential).
  • QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification (preferred).
  • Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and KS4.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for Food Technology and inspiring young learners.
