  • Salary: MPS1 - MPS6 per day, DOE
  • Temporary Contract: Long-term cover
  • Part-Time Vacancy: 3 days per week, hours approx. 8:30am - 3:30/4:30pm
Food Technology Teacher Specification

Empowering Learning is seeking a passionate and engaging Food Technology Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Birmingham. This is a part-time, long-term position (3 days per week) starting January 2026.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver practical and theory-based Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, focusing on developing students' culinary skills, nutritional understanding, and confidence in the kitchen. You will inspire students to work safely, creatively, and independently while preparing them for GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition success.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to contribute to a forward-thinking Food Technology Department and promote high standards of achievement, creativity, and healthy living.

Requirements:
  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Proven experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and/or KS4
  • Excellent subject knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, hygiene, and safety
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
  • Strong organisational skills suitable for part-time teaching
  • Level 1 Safeguarding Training (training can be provided)
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
