Food Technology Teacher – KS3 to KS4

Location: Birmingham, B16

Start date: January 2026

Contract: Full-time | Long-Term

Salary: MPS/UPS or competitive PAYE rate (depending on experience)

From knife skills to nutrition, you’ll inspire the next generation of confident cooks and creative food thinkers. We’re working with a supportive 11–16 secondary school looking for a talented Food Technology Teacher to join their Design & Technology department. You’ll be teaching practical and theory-based lessons that build culinary skills, food science knowledge, and healthy eating habits, preparing students for success at GCSE and beyond.

About the Role

As a Food Technology Teacher, you’ll:

• Teach engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition
• Plan practical sessions that develop cooking skills, food safety awareness, and creativity
• Deliver theory lessons on nutrition, food provenance, and the science of cooking
• Maintain a safe, organised, and well-resourced food room
• Support enrichment activities such as cooking clubs, competitions, and themed events

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Holds QTS and a relevant qualification in Food Technology, Catering, or a related field
• Has experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level, including GCSE
• Is confident leading practical lessons and maintaining a safe learning environment
• Inspires students through creative, hands‑on learning
• Builds positive relationships with students of all abilities
