Overview

About the Role

You will deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), promoting practical skills, independence, and confidence in the kitchen. You will support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, create a calm and safe learning environment, and work closely with colleagues and the Senior Leadership Team to monitor progress, implement interventions, and drive continuous improvement across the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and adapt Food Technology lessons for a range of additional needs across all key stages.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Track and monitor pupil progress, using assessment data to inform teaching and set targets.
  • Support literacy and numeracy interventions within lessons as needed.
  • Contribute to school development initiatives and report on teaching and learning to SLT.
  • Cover classes as needed and provide additional support to colleagues.
Experience & Qualifications
  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience in or willingness to teach Food Technology.
  • Understanding of pupils with SEN and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to undertake professional training.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles.

Working Arrangements

You’ll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more time to do the things that make you happy. The 4‑Day Working Week is subject to successful completion of probation and is not a contractual benefit.
