Job summary

A leading education staffing agency is seeking a dedicated Food Technology Teacher for a thriving secondary school in Leighton Buzzard. You will inspire students with your passion for food science and culinary skills, engaging them in meaningful lessons and activities. This full-time role starts after the half term in November 2025, with the potential for a longer-term contract from January. A relevant degree and QTS are required.

Overview

Are you passionate about food, nutrition, and educating young minds? Academics is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Food Technology Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Leighton Buzzard starting after the half term in November 2025 on a long-term contract.

The role will be full time, 3 days a week, with a view to go on a longer term contract from January, temp - perm.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher to inspire students and contribute to their understanding of food science, culinary skills, and healthy living.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Engaging Lessons: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons to students of varying abilities, ensuring all students are engaged and motivated.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a curriculum that meets national standards and fosters a love for cooking and nutrition.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Assess students\' progress, provide constructive feedback, and prepare reports on their performance.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive learning environment, manage classroom behaviour effectively, and ensure the safety and well-being of all students during practical lessons.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Organize and participate in extracurricular activities related to Food Technology, such as cooking clubs or health and nutrition workshops.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest educational practices and Food Technology trends, participating in professional development as required.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Must have QTS and a relevant degree in Food Technology or a related field.
