About the Food Safety, Quality & Allergen Specialist job

The purpose of your role will be to manage and deliver scientific and technical projects, including training, consultancy, and research, providing high-quality, cost-effective solutions for both internal and external clients. You will also support business development in targeted areas to align with goals and work closely with the Allergen Specialist to advise clients on food safety matters related to allergens.

Key tasks
  • Plan and manage technical projects across contract, training, and research work, ensuring compliance with business management system requirements. Interpret results and prepare client reports, including guidance on allergen management and food safety.
  • Deliver training as lead or support tutor for scheduled and client-specific courses. Design and develop training materials, with a focus on allergen awareness. Respond to technical enquiries and provide consultancy, including site audits and pre-audits, advising clients on allergen control and related food safety issues.
  • Support business growth by identifying new contract, training, and research opportunities. Prepare project proposals and tenders, highlighting allergen-related services where relevant.
  • Perform internal audits as required, ensuring adherence to allergen management standards, organisational procedures, and overall quality compliance.
About You
  • The successful candidate shall have a Degree in a scientific subject with at least 3 years in a technical or quality role within food manufacturing or food legislation enforcement.
  • The role requires a Level 4 HACCP qualification, Train the Trainer certification, and practical experience in food allergy management, including allergen control and analysis. Knowledge of UK/EU food allergen regulations is desirable.
  • Experience in auditing, project management, training delivery, and consultancy is essential.
  • Full UK/EU driving licence.

The package includes 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, 10% employer pension contributions, holiday buy-scheme and retailer discounts.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, standard office hours with travel when required. The site is in Gloucestershire and is commutable from Cheltenham, Gloucester, Worcester, Evesham, Banbury, Oxford and surrounding areas.
