Job summary

A food safety organization based in Walsall is seeking a qualified food hygiene inspector. The successful candidate will conduct inspections across various food categories and investigate complaints. Job description
Role Overview

You’ll be expected to work on site a minimum of three days per week, with the option to work from home for admin tasks on the remaining days. A car is essential due to travel between premises.

The role includes:

  • Food hygiene inspections across all categories, including unrated businesses
  • Enforcement revisits and paid-for FHRS rescores
  • Food complaint investigations
  • Follow-up on sporadic infectious disease notifications
  • Food standards inspections (for competent officers)
What We’re Looking For
  • Food hygiene competency (and ideally food standards)
  • Recent local authority food safety experience within the last 12 months
  • Evidence of competency to deliver official controls
Accepted Qualifications

Candidates must hold one of the following:

  • Higher Certificate in Food Control (EHRB or CIEH)
  • Higher Certificate in Official Control (SFSORB)
  • EHRB Certificate of Registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner
  • Diploma in Environmental Health (EHRB or REHIS)
  • Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene & Standards Control (APC) – CIEH
  • Degree or Master’s Degree in Environmental Health
