Job summary

Our client is a well-established engineering business delivering bespoke food production machinery across the food manufacturing sector. They seek a Capital Plant Sales Engineer to own the full sales cycle, from initial enquiry to handover, while building strong customer relationships and tailoring engineering solutions.

The role involves developing new business opportunities, preparing proposals, and collaborating with design teams to ensure viable technical and commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven background in capital equipment, machinery, engineering, or technical sales.
• Experience within food processing or related manufacturing sectors.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and mechanical systems.
• Experience managing projects through full sales cycle.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Generate and develop new business opportunities within the food manufacturing sector.
• Manage existing customer accounts and build long-term relationships.
• Understand customer requirements and develop tailored engineering solutions.
• Prepare technical quotations, costings, proposals, and presentations.
• Liaise with internal design and engineering teams to ensure solutions are technically and commercially viable.
• Manage projects throughout the full sales lifecycle, from enquiry through to handover.
• Act as the primary commercial contact for customers throughout project delivery.
• Attend customer sites and industry events as required.
