Job summary

McCormick & Company is hiring a Technical Operator for our Peterborough, UK site on a 12-month fixed-term contract or permanent basis. You will operate processing and packing equipment, follow recipes, and uphold safety and quality standards.

You will monitor production, prepare batch records, adjust process parameters, perform autonomous maintenance, and work with teammates to continuously improve efficiency and compliance with HACCP, GMP, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing/production.
• Mechanical aptitude and numerical literacy.
• Good communication in English; able to follow SOPs and batch records.
• Flexible, team oriented and detail focused.

Responsibilities

• Operate processing and packing equipment following recipes, batch cards, SOPs and standard work instructions.
• Inspect safety (LOTO) and quality (HACCP/GMP) parameters and specifications.
• Safely start up and shut down equipment.
• Monitor and adjust production processes for quality and productivity.
• Prepare production documents such as batch records and reports.
• Adjust key process variables and demonstrate impact on finished product.
• Execute autonomous maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, inspection per standards.
• Detect equipment abnormalities and implement improvements to prevent deterioration.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical control systems.
• Work independently or with a team using RCA/5 Why to identify root causes.
