As the Food & Beverage Duty Manager, you’ll lead an enthusiastic F/B team, working closely with colleagues to deliver exceptional customer service across a variety of exciting activities and events. Upselling is a must, and you’ll inspire your team to maximise sales while ensuring every guest has an unforgettable experience.

Your role will focus on live service delivery, ensuring top‑notch service at all times. You’ll also contribute to service development and handle practical tasks like stock management, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Experience and Skills

It would be great if you had experience in:

  • Strong experience of bar, restaurant and café work in a management capacity
  • Cash management experience
  • Able to demonstrate experience in stock management and control
  • Strong staff management experience including training, recruitment and rostering

Skills and knowledge of:

  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Strong leadership skills, leading by example
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise a varied workload
  • A strong understanding of operational bar requirements
  • Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business including weekends, holiday periods and a mix of day/evening work

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management:

  • Implement and lead on upselling strategies.
  • Effectively manage F/B staff to ensure high standard of customer service.
  • Lead and deliver staff training plans, ensuring all team members are knowledgeable and skilled.
  • Support recruitment and training of the F/B team.
  • Follow The Glasshouse ICM’s policies to promptly and effectively address any staff issues.
  • Lead by example, adapting to circumstances to achieve wider team and organisational goals.
  • Actively role model The Glasshouse ICM’s values, maintaining a fun and safe atmosphere for patrons and staff.

Customer Service & Sales:

  • Resolve customer complaints/queries professionally and courteously, in line with existing policies.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance visitors’ experiences.
  • Lead and implement upselling strategies, inspiring the team to maximise sales while ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Motivate the team to engage with customers effectively, promoting and upselling products and services.

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure all F/B outlets are clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
  • Manage overall setup and service delivery across all F/B outlets as required.
  • Ensure cash handling is completed in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Complete daily reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prep and deliver concise and comprehensive shift briefings focusing on health, safety, and excellent customer service.
  • Report any incidents or equipment issues to relevant staff, following policy and procedures.

Collaboration & Coordination:

  • Work with events & hires, programming, and box office colleagues to ensure adequate staffing levels for efficient service.
  • Support your team and wider programming colleagues with operational queries.
  • Support the Audience Experience Coordinator in stock takes, stock management, ordering, and invoices as required.

Quality & Safety Controls:

  • Set and deliver on quality and safety controls.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain in‑depth knowledge of licensing regulations and ensure compliance by all staff.
  • Ensure all F/B staff members adhere to uniform standards and are aware of their duties, role expectations, and health and safety requirements.

Inventory & Stock Management:

  • Deliver effective stock management to minimise waste and maximise sales.
  • Responsible for stock deliveries, cellar, and line maintenance.
  • Assist with cashing up, following set practices.

Event Support:

  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for efficient service during events.
  • Provide accurate and timely event quotes to colleagues as requested.
