Job summary

FleetCheck is a growing business focused on improving road safety for professional fleet management. The Flutter Developer role is based in Kemble on a hybrid basis, with in-office Monday to Wednesday and optional remote Thursday/Friday. You will work on Flutter/Dart apps, contributing to design, implementation, testing, and quality assurance.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years in software development with 1 year Flutter/Dart.
  • Strong Flutter/Dart expertise with Riverpod state management.
  • Solid mobile UI/UX understanding for iOS and Android.
  • Experience with RESTful API integration.
  • Git and GitHub experience.
  • Mobile testing knowledge: unit and widget tests.
  • Strong problem-solving and independent work ability.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of Agile or Scrum.
  • Preferred: publishing apps to App Store / Google Play.
  • Preferred: CI/CD for mobile (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Codemagic).
  • Preferred: native iOS/Android exposure (Swift/Kotlin).
  • Preferred: Firebase or similar mobile backend.
  • Preferred: Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Preferred: automated UI/integration testing (Flutter tests, Appium).
  • Requires full clean driving licence and a car.
  • Based within 1 hour of Cirencester GL7 6BQ.
  • Work authorisation in the United Kingdom.
  • Requires 1 year Flutter, 1 year Dart, and 2 years software dev.
  • BPSS check required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Scrum team to design and optimise mobile apps.
  • Write clean Flutter/Dart code with minimal supervision.
  • Debug and resolve issues in existing code.
  • Create and maintain unit and widget tests.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote best practices.
  • Share knowledge on mobile architecture to QA and review.
  • Collaborate with IT and Customer Experience to support apps.
  • Investigate and resolve bugs; communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in mobile development.
  • Be proactive in the Scrum team and contribute to other activities.
  • Act professionally with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Advise line manager on workload and progress.
  • Contribute to improvement initiatives and innovative solutions.
  • Comply with values, service levels, policies, laws.

Job description

Salary: £45,000 - 55,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We require at least 2 years of professional experience in software development, including at least 1 year of hands-on Flutter/Dart development.
  • We need strong experience with Flutter and Dart, including state management approaches such as Riverpod.
  • We need a solid understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and platform-specific guidelines for iOS and Android.
  • We need experience with RESTful API integration and consumption.
  • We need experience with Git and GitHub.
  • We need solid understanding of mobile app testing, including unit and widget tests.
  • We need strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on moderately complex tasks.
  • We need excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • We need good knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • Preferred experience includes publishing and maintaining apps on the Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store.
  • Preferred experience includes CI/CD pipelines for mobile, such as Fastlane, GitHub Actions, or Codemagic.
  • Preferred experience includes exposure to native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) development.
  • Preferred experience includes Firebase or similar mobile backend services.
  • Preferred experience includes Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Preferred experience includes automated UI/integration testing, such as Flutter integration tests or Appium.
  • We require a full clean driving licence and a car.
  • We require applicants to be based within a 1 hour commuting distance of Cirencester GL7 6BQ.
  • We require work authorisation in the United Kingdom.
  • We require 1 year of Flutter experience, 1 year of Dart experience, and 2 years of software development experience.
  • We require a BPSS check.
Responsibilities:
  • We collaborate with our Scrum development team to design, implement, and optimise solutions and improvements for our mobile applications.
  • We write clean, efficient, and maintainable Flutter/Dart code with minimal supervision.
  • We debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in existing mobile app code.
  • We write and maintain unit and widget tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • We participate in code reviews and contribute to mobile development best practices across our team.
  • We share knowledge on mobile app architecture and implementation to support colleagues in code review and QA of mobile features.
  • We collaborate with our IT and Customer Experience teams to support the mobile apps, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting expertise.
  • We investigate and resolve bugs raised by customers or colleagues, communicating progress to stakeholders throughout.
  • We create and maintain appropriate technical documentation.
  • We stay current with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in mobile development.
  • We remain flexible, operate as proactive members of the Scrum team, and contribute to other activities when required.
  • We act in a courteous, professional, and ethical manner in all interactions with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • We advise our line manager and management team on workload, technical challenges, and work progress.
  • We contribute positively to improvement initiatives and propose innovative solutions.
