Job summary

WSP is seeking Flood Risk Modellers to support our national programme across the UK. You will deliver fluvial and pluvial flood modelling using industry tools and contribute to major infrastructure and FCERM projects, with opportunities to lead or support client engagements.

Join a multidisciplinary team, develop modelling approaches, and participate in reports and presentations for government and private clients.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in fluvial and pluvial hydraulic modelling.
• Experience leading technical reviews of hydraulic models.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects with public sector clients.
• Chartership with a relevant professional body or commitment to work toward.
• Desirable GIS experience and knowledge of UK flood policies.

Our Sustainable Water Management Team are seeking Flood Risk Modellers to help deliver our national programme of work. Focusing on the delivery of flood risk management projects you will have the opportunity to be a major contributor or lead for our external and internal clients.

Our national fluvial and pluvial modelling team deliver flood modelling to support a broad portfolio of work including FCERM studies, major infrastructure projects (including working across the energy, transport, government and water sectors), and strategic studies.

As a key member of the team you will have the opportunity to collaborate with our national hydraulic modelling team. You will be responsible for delivering/supporting technical oversight of projects to provide a range of flood risk management related services for government, local authority, private and major infrastructure clients as well as supporting the delivery of innovation in our sector.

A little more about your role…

• Work on fluvial and pluvial modelling projects including experience using flood modelling software e.g. Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HECRAS or ICM
• Supporting our flood modelling studies within our teams
• Scoping and developing hydraulic modelling approaches
• Leading or supporting technical reviews of hydraulic models
• Preparation or support of technical reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders dependant on experience.
• Fluvial and pluvial modelling
• Support business development through identifying prospective opportunities and leading on the preparation of proposals
• Providing support or leading project, commercial and financial management for projects
• Client and stakeholder liaison

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate or willing to learn…

• Proven track record in undertaking fluvial and pluvial hydraulic modelling
• Provide technical leadership in flood modelling in teams
• Experience of undertaking model reviews for statutory bodies
• Commercial experience, including project management and bid preparation
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
• Relevant experience of delivering infrastructure projects or working with local authority/national government
• Drive and ability to build client relationships and develop suitable opportunities
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Chartership with a relevant professional body (or commitment to work towards within an agreed period)
• Desirable to have experience in: GIS; FCERM studies; Flood Risk Assessments; knowledge of UK flood risk policy (NPPF and TAN15); UK flood estimation methods.
