Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to join our client’s established consultancy team in Guildford.

You will focus on flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and planning applications for a range of development and infrastructure projects. The role offers the opportunity to work with specialist software such as QGIS, AutoCAD and MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, liaising with clients and authorities, and progressing to wider project responsibilities and career

Qualifications

A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related subject.
Experience or an interest in flood risk assessment and drainage engineering.
Good written communication and technical report-writing skills.
Familiarity with industry software would be beneficial.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies for developments.
Assess flood risks from rivers, surface water and other sources.
Assist with drainage design, calculations and technical reports.
Use QGIS, AutoCAD and MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage to support assessments and drainage design.
Liaise with clients, local authorities, the Environment Agency and water companies.
Ensure reports and designs meet relevant planning policy, guidance and industry standards.
Manage project deadlines and collaborate with colleagues across planning, transport and infrastructure disciplines.
