Job summary

Language Empire is recruiting freelance interpreters and translators in Pontefract to work with NHS, local authorities, police, probation, and other organisations across the UK. You will interpret in legal, health and public service settings, often from your own home, and you must be self-employed with flexible hours.

We welcome fluent bilingual professionals with DPSI or equivalent qualifications and the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and at least one other language.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Must be aged 21 or over.
• Professional interpreting qualifications such as DPSI/CIOL/NRPSI are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Interpret for legal, health and local government services.
• Check the non-English speakers' understanding after each sentence.
• Conferencing, consecutive and public service interpreting.
• Deal with highly confidential information and liaise between service users and providers.
