Job summary

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Nursing Associate to work in the Integrated Mental Health Team at HMP Altcourse. The role involves screening new prison receptions for mental health needs, promoting wellbeing, and supporting physical health checks within a secure environment.

You will work under a registered nurse, contribute to care planning, and provide medicines administration under supervision. CPD and NMC revalidation are expected as part of ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Nursing Associate Foundation Degree completed and approved.
• Registration on the NMC register as a Nursing Associate.

Responsibilities

• Complete Primary Mental Health Screens for new prison receptions.
• Promote mental health and suicide prevention, including induction wing awareness.
• Provide psychoeducation and information on coping strategies.
• Support group work and group activity.
• Carry out physical health checks for mental health population.
• Assist the registered nurse with assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care.
• Administer medicines safely per SOPs and policies.
• Record clinical observations and monitor patient status.
• Undertake venepuncture, ECGs and cannulation when trained and signed off.
• Assist in risk assessment and safeguarding concerns.
