Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd is seeking an English Teacher for flexible short-term and long-term opportunities in Sudbury and surrounding areas. You will deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages with provided schemes of work, and contribute to planning during longer placements.

Ideal candidates hold QTS or equivalent with strong English knowledge, confident classroom management, and a commitment to safeguarding. Salary is dependent on experience and paid weekly via PAYE.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent is required.
• Strong knowledge of English language and literature.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
• Able to manage classrooms and adapt across year groups.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality English lessons using provided plans.
• Teach topics in literature, language, reading and writing.
• Support pupils to develop analytical and communication skills.
• Assess and record pupil progress as required.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Manage behaviour according to school policies.
• Contribute to departmental planning during placements.
