Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Flexible Cleaning Operative to maintain clean, safe buildings across our estate. The role is 15 hours per week with regular evening shifts, offering stability, pro-rata pay, and opportunities for progression.

You’ll join our Facilities Management team, delivering a reliable cleaning service and supporting the local community. PVG checks are required, with terms offering an above-market pension and flexible shift options.

Qualifications

• Basic cleaning duties across multiple buildings.
• Maintain waste disposal and replenish sanitary supplies.
• Assist supervision and follow PVG-related pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Empty litter and recycling bins across sites.
• Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture and fixtures.
• Sanitary areas, toilets and showers cleaning; replenish washroom consumables.
• Emergency cleaning and reactive cleaning as required.
• Care for equipment and assist with other cleaning tasks as needed.
