Job summary

Thornford Park Hospital seeks a Bank Chef to join its kitchen team. You will help run day-to-day operations, prepare meals for service users, staff and visitors, and assist with menu planning while following strict hygiene standards.

The role offers three-week induction, holiday uplift, subsidised meals and opportunities for career development within Elysium Healthcare. Location: Thornford Park, Thatcham, Berkshire.

Qualifications

• Be 18 years or older.
• GCSE or equivalent English.
• City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent).
• Basic Food Preparation Cooking.
• Basic Food Hygiene.
• Supervising qualification or working towards.
• Experience preparing and producing quality food to a high standard.
• Knowledge of menu planning and costing.
• Previous experience in delivering a service on mass.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Maintain good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
• Prepare, plan and cook meals to a consistently high standard, considering dietary requirements.
• Serve service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages professionally.
• Prepare and produce foods for conferences and banquets.
• Participate in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
• Adhere to Safer Food Better Business standards and keep records.
• Adhere to Food Hygiene Regulations and safety procedures.
