Overview

Cavendish View School provides a nurturing and stimulating education for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (A.S.C) and special education needs (S.E.N) from the ages of 5 to 11 years. We provide every child with an exceptional educational experience which is enjoyable, stimulating and supportive, enabling them to reach their full potential. We are a small school but we have big ideas and do not set limits on what our children can both aspire to and achieve. Our goal is to give the children at Cavendish View School a window on the wider world. Pupils benefit from a multi-disciplinary team consisting of teachers, a family liaison officer, teaching assistants, a speech and language therapist, an occupational therapist and a mental health practitioner.

The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support Cavendish school in Liverpool with students aged 5-11 years with Autism Spectrum Condition (A.S.C) and special education needs (S.E.N) from the ages of 5 to 11 years.

Responsibilities
  • To support the class teacher in order to ensure the delivery of a high-quality education for all students
  • To provide relevant and appropriate support to students, on an individual or group basis, in order to enable them to access the curriculum as independently as possible
  • To support the class teacher in organising the classroom, its resources, student groupings and displays to provide a stimulating learning situation appropriate for students with ASC / SCLN / Complex Needs
  • Work with and manage sensory needs, enabling learners with a ‘sensory diet’ and / or to adopt self-regulatory strategies as appropriate and advised by the professional team
  • Assist some learners in developing or refining their ‘independence’ skills, which may be inclusive of assisting with personal care elements
