Adecco are please to be recruiting for a Fleet Vehicle Technician to work within the Dorset Police Force based at Ferndown Police Station.

Location

Ferndown, Dorset

Contract

Temporary, Full Time 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. Hourly Rate £15.09

Driving Requirement

Yes, Full UK Driving Licence.

Purpose of the Role

As a Fleet Vehicle Technician, you will deliver prompt, efficient, and effective repair services to ensure vehicle availability for all users. Your expertise will help keep all assets owned by Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police safe, reliable, and compliant with legal standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair fleet vehicles to industry and force standards.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are safe, reliable, and legally compliant.
  • Complete maintenance documents accurately and efficiently.
  • Carry out unscheduled repairs swiftly to maintain high levels of vehicle availability.
  • Respond positively to demands to sustain operational capability.
  • Deliver a customer-focused vehicle maintenance service, adhering to agreed standards and schedules.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation and procedures in the workshop.
  • Provide specialist engineering expertise and advice to users.
  • Utilise diagnostic systems to efficiently identify vehicle faults.
  • Drive police vehicles safely and in accordance with Force policy.
  • Manage the commissioning and disposal of Force vehicles.
Essential Criteria
  • A high degree of competence in motor vehicle service and repair, ideally to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 standard, with significant post-apprenticeship experience.
  • Awareness of risk assessments, COSHH regulations, and health and safety standards in vehicle maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a systematic approach.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of motor vehicle engineering practices, including diagnostic techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction at all levels.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • A current Vehicle Inspectorate Nominated Tester Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Outlook and Word.
  • Experience working efficiently to industry repair times.
