Job summary

NHS Dumfries and Galloway is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead transport and car leasing operations, ensuring compliant, cost-effective logistics across the region. You will oversee daily schedules, vehicle maintenance, and performance metrics while supporting a team of drivers and transport staff.

The role requires strong knowledge of transport legislation, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Transport Manager or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.
• CPC qualification.
• Proficient in transport management systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day transport operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery schedules.
• Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including Operator Licence standards.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and defect reporting.
• Lead, motivate, and support drivers and transport staff.
• Monitor fleet performance, fuel usage, and operational costs.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and service delivery.
• Maintain accurate transport records and reporting systems.
• Liaise with internal departments and external partners to optimise logistics processes.
