V.Ships Leisure is looking for Fleet Training Manager – Food & Beverage on behalf of Silversea Cruises. The Fleet Training Manager, Food & Beverage is responsible for designing, delivering, and overseeing training and development programs across the Food & Beverage (F&B) division onboard cruise ships. This role ensures consistency in Core Service Standards, compliance with international regulations, and the ongoing professional growth of Crew members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence at sea.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs covering all aspects of F&B operations, Core Service Standards, leadership development, compliance, and safety standards.
- Facilitate onboarding programs, classroom sessions, workshops, on-the-job training, and e-learning modules.
- Conduct coaching, mentoring, and train-the-trainer sessions to strengthen leadership capabilities and sustain best practices.
- Support cross-training initiatives to enhance versatility, engagement, and career growth.
- Maintains the master repository of service SOPs, checklists, and venue playbooks.
- Build strong working relationships across departments to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Act as a liaison between shipboard operations and shoreside HR/training teams to align initiatives with organizational priorities.
- Partner with shipboard/shoreside leadership to identify high-potential staff and develop career progression plans as per Food & Beverage Promotion Process.
- Identify training needs through observation, performance reviews, and team engagement.
- Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, surveys, and performance metrics.
- Drive process improvements and integrate industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of training participation, certifications, and compliance metrics.
- Ensure training aligns with international safety and sanitation standards (e.g., USPH, STCW).
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance to ensure consistent service and product quality across all venues, including restaurants, bars, and galleys.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
- 4–5+ years in training, learning & development, or F&B management, with cruise ship or luxury hospitality experience preferred.
- Certifications in training, coaching, or leadership development are an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and learning management systems.
- STCW or equivalent maritime safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to design and deliver engaging training programs; strong presentation, facilitation, and coaching skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire multicultural teams in fast-paced environments.
- Strong operational knowledge including service standards, food preparation, cost control, inventory management, and quality assurance.
- Good knowledge of food safety and Public Health standards & procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and eagerness to learn.
- Familiarity with cruise or luxury hospitality operations is a plus.
- Required to speak English clearly and distinctly.
- Aptitude to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures, give and receive instructions, and effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
- Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Portuguese preferred but not essential.
