Qualifications

The Role

Based in London, at the Harrison Street London office, and reporting to the Vice President of Asset Management for Europe, the Fixed Term Asset Management will be responsible for strategy of the business, JV partnership management, business plan execution, refinances, disposition and workouts. Additional tasks include:

Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships and execute investment strategy with a select group of existing operating partners and third party service providers;
  • Review and analyze budgets and business plans across partner relationships;
  • Liase with portfolio management to communicate liquidity needs at fund/ asset level
  • Model hold/sell/refinance scenarios – high proficiency required
  • Assist in the disposition process with operating/jv partners including presentation of the transaction to investment committee and oversight of the due diligence and closing process;
  • Attend property tours for assigned partner relationships;
  • Analyze and monitor property level financials and debt obligations;
  • Review and analyze lease transactions
  • Evaluate and recommend required capital improvement programs including scope of work and economic analysis;
  • Oversight of property operations including property management and leasing terms as well as sales and leasing calls
  • Assist in negotiating property management and leasing agreements; including university nominations
  • Review and approve appraisal reports as completed by third party appraisal management firms and complete annual internal valuations;
  • Assist the Acquisitions group with underwriting transactions including preparation of pro forma cash flow projections;
  • Coordinate purchase of interest rate derivatives;
  • Assist in the recruiting and training of new employees and interns;
  • Accountable for joint venture and fund-level financial models.
Requirements
  • Good degree (2:1 or better) in a relevant subject
  • 10 plus years’ experience in real estate from private equity, investment banking, investment management or corporate finance companies
  • Experience/exposure to operational real estate and/or alternative sectors (e.g., student accommodation, BTR/PRS) is essential
  • Work experience with institutional real estate private equity firms, investment/asset managers, and/or developers/operators
  • Proven Excel modelling skills, able to build financial and cashflow models from scratch, audit models and work product from junior staff,
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities to help manage junior staff
  • Excellent communication skills with a fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Further European language(s) would be a bonus
