Job description

Evidence of at least 2 year UK experience in Maternity required for this post.

The post will enable the Trust to maintain a full range of services within the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. As a unit we have encouraged Clinical Fellows to develop their own areas of special interest.

The post will be based at the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. It would be expected that the candidate should have completed a defined period of structured training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with documented evidence of progress to the equivalent level of ST3 or above.

Responsibilities
  • Share in the resident on-call rota (see attached timetable)
  • Participate in 1 in 9 on-call rota, including weekends on call (day shifts Saturday and Sunday 0800-2030 or nights 2000 - 0800) per year.
  • Share the general duties of a registrar obstetrician and gynaecologist, including teaching junior medical staff and students, clinical governance including clinical audit and management duties.
  • Continue to develop professionally by keeping abreast of relevant medical developments and fulfilling CPD requirements.
  • Take part in the Trust’s Clinical Fellow annual appraisal scheme.
  • Develop agreed protocols and systems for patient management in areas of special interest
  • Share in the administrative and managerial duties of the department as a whole
  • Share responsibility for supervision and training of junior medical staff and medical students.
  • Work in the appropriate speciality networks.
