Morgan Stanley in London seeks a highly capable FID – Linear Rates Trader – Analyst to trade Linear Rates products (Bonds, Swaps, Inflation) across the EMEA region and to act as a market maker for rates using robust risk management and analytics.

You will create and circulate market information, trade ideas and commentary on a daily basis, while managing daily P&L reporting and applying advanced quantitative models for relative value and valuation in a collaborative environment with sales,

Qualifications

  • Quantitative degree in STEM is required.
  • Experience with language models or machine learning would be beneficial.
  • Expert knowledge of Fixed Income products with a focus on Interest Rates.
  • Strong work ethic and discipline to maintain consistent markets for clients and information flow.
  • Proven ability to build models for trading and risk management.
  • Experience writing trading colour and presenting ideas/strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Trade Linear Rates products (Bonds, Swaps, Inflation) in the EMEA region as primary responsibility.
  • Act as market maker for Rates products including relative value trading and hedging.
  • Create and distribute market information on customer flows, trade ideas and commentary daily and intra-daily.
  • Manage daily profit and loss reporting and apply quantitative modelling for relative value analysis and valuation.

The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manages risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Commodities Division is a market leader across a broad range of commodities markets, with expertise in areas including client risk management, financing solutions and investor products Sales & Trading.

From the largest global institutions to innovative new hedge funds, investors come to Morgan Stanley for sales, trading, and market‑making services in almost every type of financial instruments including stocks, bonds, derivatives, foreign exchange, and commodities. Our professionals provide liquidity and content to clients around the world, actively assessing and managing risk, trading securities, and planning and executing transactions in the fast‑changing markets. As the needs of our clients become increasingly complex, we often develop customized solutions.

What will you be doing?
  • The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for trading Linear Rates products (Bonds, Swaps, Inflation) in the EMEA region
  • Acting as market maker for Rates products including relative value trading and hedging
  • Creating and distributing market information on customer flows, trade ideas and general commentary on a daily and intra‑daily basis
  • Managing daily profit and loss reporting and utilizing highly specialized quantitative knowledge for relative value analysis and valuation and complex modelling of financial data.
Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Quantitative bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject (Finance/ Maths /Economics or Engineering)
  • Previous experience with language models/machine learning would be considered beneficial
  • Expert knowledge of Fixed Income products with a specialisation in Interest Rates
  • Strong work ethic and daily discipline to make consistent markets for clients and daily information flow across the NY and HK desks.
  • Proven experience of building models for trading and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability of writing comprehensive trading colour and making presentations on trading ideas and strategies.
  • Excellent networker who is comfortable liaising with clients, sales, traders.
  • Strong people management skills, dealing with infrastructure partners and experience of building trading systems and analytics.
