Job description
Job Title: Personal Trainer & Coach (Part-Time with Full-Time Potential)
We're Growing Our Team!

Gay Man's Coaching (GMC) is seeking a qualified, passionate personal trainer to join our expanding coaching team. We're primarily hiring for part-time positions with clear progression to full-time roles within a few months. For exceptionally qualified candidates, full-time positions may be available immediately.

This is your chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of our clients while being part of a supportive, mission-driven community.

About Us

Founded in 2019 by Keegan Hirst, the first British professional rugby league player to come out while still playing, GMC has become the premier coaching service for gay, bi, and trans men. We take a holistic approach that transforms our clients' lives across all dimensions - physical, mental, and emotional.

Our three-phase system (Priming, Building, and Transform) delivers sustainable, long-term results for our nearly 200 members. With ambitious growth plans for 2025, we're looking to double our client base and need exceptional coaches to help us get there.

The Role: Personal Trainer & Coach

Part-Time (with progression to Full-Time): Most coaches will start part-time, with the opportunity to move into a full-time position within 3-5 months based on performance and client demand.

Full-Time (for exceptional candidates): If you have extensive experience, relevant additional qualifications, or unique skills that align perfectly with our mission, we'll consider you for an immediate full-time role.

This remote position offers flexibility while allowing you to be part of something meaningful. You'll work directly with clients, providing personalised training and nutrition support that helps them thrive in all areas of life.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Creating and delivering personalized training programmes based on client assessments
  • Conducting movement and mobility assessments
  • Providing form feedback and exercise progressions through video analysis
  • Prescribing and adjusting training plans based on client progress and goals
  • Delivering weekly video check-ins with each of your clients
  • Offering nutrition guidance and education (no rigid meal plans - we teach sustainable habits)
  • Maintaining 2-3 meaningful touchpoints with clients every week via WhatsApp
  • Documenting client progress, stats, and goals in our systems
  • Attending weekly staff meetings and participating in our coaching community
  • Joining in-person client events in the UK and US (we cover all travel and accommodation costs)
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • Level 3 Personal Training qualification (or international equivalent) - ESSENTIAL
  • 2+ years experience working with clients of varying fitness levels and physical limitations - ESSENTIAL
  • Proven experience coaching clients in strength training, mobility, and cardiovascular fitness
  • Knowledge of programme design, exercise progression, and exercise modifications

What Makes a Great GMC Coach:
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build genuine rapport with clients
  • Understanding of the unique experiences and challenges faced by gay, bi, and trans men
  • Ability to provide supportive accountability without being a drill sergeant
  • Comfortable with technology (we use WhatsApp, custom apps, and video communication)
  • Collaborative approach - you'll work alongside other coaches and specialists
  • Passion for helping others transform their lives holistically, not just physically
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to meet clients where they are
What We Offer:
  • Competitive compensation per client per month (increases based on results and client numbers)
  • Clear career progression: Part-time coaches can advance to full-time positions within 3-5 months
  • Covered travel and accommodation for all in-person events attended
