About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled First Assistant to join our Surgical Team in London. This ongoing role offers flexibility through both part-time and full-time options, providing an excellent work-life balance while contributing to a high-performing surgical environment.

As a key member of the theatre team, you will support surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff, ensuring optimal patient safety, precision, and efficiency during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons directly during operations, including handling instruments, suturing, and maintaining a clear surgical field.
  • Prepare the operating theatre and instruments according to standard protocols.
  • Uphold strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
  • Aid in patient positioning and monitor vital signs throughout surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to anticipate and fulfil surgical requirements.
  • Participate in pre-operative briefings and post-operative debriefings to ensure effective communication.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all surgical procedures.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and clinical governance guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior theatre staff and trainees when required.

  • Proven experience as a Surgical First Assistant or scrub practitioner with relevant clinical qualifications.
