Job summary

Owen Daniels seeks an experienced Firmware Engineer to develop embedded firmware for new and existing products. You will work from specifications, collaborate with electronics engineers, and support the product from development through validation.

The role focuses on STM32-based firmware with opportunities to work remotely. 3–6 month outside IR35 contract, ASAP start, based in Wolverhampton.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in firmware and embedded software engineering.
• Extensive experience developing embedded firmware using STM32 processors.
• Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Desirable experience with TI Sitara processors, Enterprise Architect modelling software and Tessy firmware unit testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded firmware from project documentation, specs and design models.
• Collaborate with Electronics Engineers and project team to ensure firmware integration and validation.
• Support firmware debugging, verification and issue resolution throughout the lifecycle.
• Produce clear technical documentation to support firmware decisions and maintenance.
• Participate in technical reviews and continuous improvement activities.

Job Description

• Developing embedded firmware for new and existing products, working from project documentation, technical specifications and design models.
• Collaborating closely with Electronics Engineers and the wider project team to ensure firmware is successfully developed, integrated, tested and validated.
• Supporting firmware debugging, verification and issue resolution throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Producing clear technical documentation to support firmware implementation, design decisions and ongoing product maintenance.
• Participating in technical reviews, contributing to continuous improvement activities and supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Firmware Engineer or Embedded Software Engineer position.
• Extensive experience developing embedded firmware using STM32 processors.
