Job summary

Alpha Data is seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop FPGA-based firmware and software across the full product lifecycle, collaborating with hardware and software teams. You will work on high-performance FPGA platforms used in demanding applications and gain exposure to cutting-edge technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree in electronics or software engineering or related discipline
• Experience with AMD/Xilinx FPGAs/SoCs and Vivado Design Suite
• Proficient in C and/or C++ programming
• Experience debugging software and FPGA firmware
• Experience with test design and validation

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain firmware for FPGAs, microcontrollers, and embedded processors.
• Design, implement, and maintain software components, including device drivers and supporting tools for customer applications.
• Debug, test, and validate software and firmware for reliability and performance.
• Respond to and resolve customer support requests related to software and firmware.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to ensure effective integration of software and electronic systems.
• Contribute to code quality through documentation, reviews, and adherence to development standards.
• Support the development of example designs and reference implementations for customers.

Alpha Data is looking for a Firmware Engineer to join its growing engineering team, developing advanced FPGA-based solutions used across high-performance computing, defence, aerospace and other demanding applications.

Working alongside experienced FPGA, hardware and software engineers, you'll contribute to products that push the boundaries of performance while developing highly sought-after technical skills.

The Opportunity

You’ll become part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing and supporting software and firmware for Alpha Data's FPGA-based platforms, working across the full product lifecycle from concept through to deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain firmware for FPGAs, microcontrollers, and embedded processors.

What We’re Looking For

• BSc/BEng in Electronics/Software Engineering or related discipline (or higher)
• AMD/Xilinx FPGAs/SoCs, including use of Vivado Design Suite
• C and/or C++
• Debugging Software and FPGA firmware
• Test Design
• Java (JDK Console or GUI Applications)
