Firefighter Control, Interservice Transferee – Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service is seeking applications from existing Firefighter (Control) personnel for a Firefighter (Control) vacancy within our Fire Control.

We invite applications from current Firefighter (Control) personnel who are in development or competent. Those who are currently employed within another fire and rescue service will be welcomed as inter-service transferees and will be required to complete conversion training.

The successful candidate will promote and maintain a positive relationship with all employees and their respective trade unions, developing a climate of harmonious and constructive employee relations.

The role requires excellent interpersonal skills and innovative thinking, supporting the services continuous improvement strategy and promoting a positive and inclusive organisational culture.

Our Fire Control Mobilising and Communications Centre is equipped to deal with emergency and non-emergency calls. The Fire Control is responsible for:

  • Accepting emergency and non-emergency calls from various sources.
  • Mobilising resources in accordance with our CRMP.
  • Maintaining communication with resources.
  • Maintaining information on Fire & Rescue Service operational resources and personnel.
  • Liaising with other emergency and non-emergency agencies.
  • Providing Survival Guidance Advice to callers.
  • Managing risk data and performance, and providing in-house training to control staff.

The Firefighter (Control) vacancy is a permanent position, working 42 hours on a watch-based rota system. Current Salary is £27,970 - £35,791.

Essential criteria for the role include being a competent or development Firefighter (Control) currently employed in a UK Fire and Rescue Service, with no outstanding unspent disciplinary warnings.

The selection process will be undertaken in accordance with workforce and succession planning requirements, and your application will be reviewed against the UK FRS National Occupational Standards (NOS).
