Job summary

Johnson Controls in Birmingham is seeking a skilled Fire Systems Technician to install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm and suppression systems across commercial, industrial, and residential sites.

The role requires strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, reading technical drawings, and a valid UK driving licence. You will work with leading brands and ensure compliance with BS 5839, delivering excellent customer service and safety-focused outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within the fire protection industry.
• Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems and fault finding.
• Ability to read technical drawings and system documentation.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm systems in line with BS 5839.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding and repairs.
• Programme and configure fire alarm control panels and networked systems.
• Complete upgrades, modifications and remedial works.
• Service, maintain and test gaseous and water mist fire suppression systems.
• Attend reactive call-outs and support commissioning/decommissioning activities.
• Conduct site surveys, technical assessments and provide customer support.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with quality, health & safety and environmental standards.
