Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Fire Systems Technician to install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm and suppression systems across commercial, industrial and residential sites. You will diagnose faults, read technical drawings and ensure BS 5839 compliance, while delivering excellent customer service.

Role involves on-site visits, planning preventative maintenance, decommissioning activities and providing technical support to customers with strong communication and safety

Qualifications

• Proven experience within the fire protection industry.
• Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, servicing and fault finding.
• Good understanding of BS 5839 and relevant industry standards.
• Ability to read technical drawings and system documentation.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all work is completed in line with quality, health & safety and environmental standards.

Job description

of fire alarm systems, including Gent, Advanced, Kentec and other leading manufacturers, ensuring systems remain compliant, operational and fit for purpose while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm systems in line with BS 5839.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding and repairs.
• Programme and configure fire alarm control panels and networked systems.

About You

• Essential:
• Proven experience within the fire protection industry.
• Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, servicing and fault finding.
• Good understanding of BS 5839 and relevant industry standards.
• Ability to read technical drawings and system documentation.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Desirable

• Experience with Gent, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Notifier, Ziton, C-Tec, EMS and wireless fire systems.
• Knowledge of gas suppression systems (FM-200, Novec 1230, Inergen, CO2), water mist systems, aspirating detection and cause & effect programming.
• Experience with emergency lighting systems.
• FIA, BAFE, ECS or manufacturer certifications.
• Commissioning experience.
