Job summary

Brandon James Limited is seeking an experienced Fire Surveyor to support projects across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region. The role involves site inspections, identifying fire safety defects and producing clear technical reports for clients.

You will conduct fire compartmentation surveys, door inspections and inspect fire-stopping and passive fire protection measures. The successful candidate will have relevant fire safety or building surveying qualifications, strong knowledge of fire doors

Qualifications

• Experience in fire surveying, passive fire protection or building surveying.
• Strong knowledge of fire doors, compartmentation and fire-stopping systems.
• Relevant qualification in Fire Safety, Building Surveying, Construction or related discipline.
• Good understanding of current UK fire safety guidance and legislation.
• Strong written reporting and communication skills.
• Confidence working independently across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Undertake fire compartmentation surveys at multiple sites.
• Carry out fire door inspections.
• Inspect fire-stopping and passive fire protection measures.
• Identify defects, breaches and non-compliance issues.
• Produce detailed survey reports with remedial recommendations.
• Review drawings, specifications and BIM/building information.

Job description

A specialist fire safety consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Fire Surveyor to support projects across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region. The successful Fire Surveyor will work across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and public-sector buildings.

The Fire Surveyor’s Role

The appointed Fire Surveyor will carry out detailed site inspections, identify fire safety defects and produce clear technical reports for clients.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking fire compartmentation surveys
• Completing fire door inspections
• Inspecting fire-stopping and passive fire protection measures
• Identifying defects, breaches and areas of non-compliance
• Producing detailed survey reports with remedial recommendations
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and building information
• Liaising with clients, contractors and property teams
• Supporting wider fire safety and remedial works programmes

The Fire Surveyor

The successful Fire Surveyor will ideally have:

• Previous experience in fire surveying, passive fire protection or building surveying
• Strong knowledge of fire doors, compartmentation and fire-stopping systems
• A relevant qualification in Fire Safety, Building Surveying, Construction or a related discipline
• Good understanding of current UK fire safety guidance and legislation
• Strong written reporting and communication skills
• Confidence working independently across multiple sites
• A full UK driving licence

Relevant qualifications or memberships such as IFE, FDIS, CIOB or equivalent would be advantageous.
