Job summary

Global Fire and Security Systems are seeking a Fire and Security Electrical Service Engineer to be field based and cover Newcastle and the surrounding area. The role focuses on performing electrical fire life safety works, maintenance, and fault repairs within the NE region.

We offer a full-time position with competitive terms including door-to-door pay, overtime, on-call and call-out rotas, plus a van, uniform and PDA.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 qualification or equivalent.
• FIA qualifications.
• IEE 18th Edition Regulations (not essential).
• Experience in electrical fire life safety works (Gent, Notifier, Advanced).
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and safe working practices.
• Strong customer care focus.
• Be proactive and capable of anticipating faults.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Able to work at heights up to 3 metres and lift weights up to 25kg.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Customer focused, possess good organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all fire and security electrical works in the area efficiently and safely.
• Ensure planned maintenance is carried out on schedule.
• Maintain and operate equipment in a safe condition per Health & Safety.
• Monitor inspection procedures and record inspection reports.
• Keep logs of inspection reports and remedial work.
• Complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time.
• Report defects at time of service visit.
• Follow group and company policies and procedures.
• Attend training and appraisal activities as required.

Due to continued growth and market development, we are now seeking to appoint a Fire and Security System Service Engineer to be field based to be field based covering Newcastle and the surrounding area.

Job Purpose:

• To undertake all fire and security electrical works within the area in an efficient and safe manner, with repairs undertaken as appropriate.
• To ensure all planned maintenance is carried out in line with its scheduled date.

Key Accountabilities

• To ensure that all equipment and services are maintained and operated in a safe condition to comply with Health & Safety
• To monitor regular inspection procedures (preventative maintenance programme) of equipment. Record inspection reports
• To keep logs of inspection reports and remedial work
• To have working knowledge of statutory regulations and to ensure awareness of all safety procedures
• To undertake electrical repairs and installations as appropriate
• To report any defects at time of service visit
• To carry out works specified
• To be responsible for vehicle and stock control of materials
• To complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time
• To understand and comply with policies and procedures
• To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner
• To attend and fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required
• To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required
• Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times
• Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment
• Use all work equipment and personal PPE correctly and in accordance with training received
• Report any issues or training needs to your Field Line manager or incident reporting system

About You

• City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 qualification or equivalent
• FIA qualifications
• IEE 18th Edition Regulations (not essential)
• Experience in dealing with all types of electrical fire life safety works, within the services sector, Gent, Notifer, Advanced
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and safe working practices
• Strong customer care focus
• Be proactive and capable of anticipating potential faults
• Full UK driving licence
• Able to work at heights of up to 3 metres and lift weights of up to 25kg
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Customer focused, possess good organisational skills.
