Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a skilled Fire and Security Engineer to install, service, maintain and commission fire alarm and electronic security systems across commercial and residential sites in Bedford. The role requires fault-finding expertise, knowledge of BS 5839 and BS EN 50131 standards, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

A full UK driving licence is essential and on-call rota participation may be required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with fire alarm and/or electronic security systems.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain fire alarm, intruder, CCTV, and access control systems.
• Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and carry out timely repairs.
• Complete service reports and compliance certificates.
• Ensure compliance with BS 5839 and BS EN 50131 where applicable.
• Provide technical guidance to clients on operation and best practices.
• Participate in on-call rota for emergencies.
• Maintain health and safety on all sites.
• Liaise with project managers, contractors and clients.
