Job summary

A leading educational provider in the UK is seeking a qualified Fire Safety Tutor/Assessor to join their team on a part-time basis. The role involves assessing apprentices and supporting their learning. Ideal candidates will have relevant qualifications and experience in engineering, along with a commitment to safeguarding. Flexible working hours and home-based options are available.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of assessing experience preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in Engineering preferred.
  • Good knowledge of training and assessment procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the assessment team for apprentices.
  • Support and assess students in Fire Related Apprenticeship Standards.
  • Maintain a commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare.

Job description

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Engineering Tutor/Assessor to work as part of our expanding learning and development team.

Hours: Part-time – 10 to 30 hours per week

Based at: Home (some travel may be required)

Semester is an online/distance learning training provider, offering apprenticeships in Engineering, Protective Services and Construction and the Built Environment routes across England. Semester utilises technology, software, systems and vocational expertise to offer a unique solution to learners and employers. By utilising technology to support delivery, assessment and monitoring, the apprentice and employer are provided with a unique and flexible apprenticeship solution.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Fire Safety Tutor/Assessor to work as part of an assessment team looking after apprentices and self paying mature students and apprentices completing Fire Related Apprenticeship Standards and qualifications.

We use OneFile as an ePortfolio, and utilise MS Teams and Moodle to deliver training.

Formal Qualifications

  • Level 4 Qualification in relevant subject – D
  • Assessor Awards (D32/33, A1 or AQA) – E
  • Teaching Qualification or willingness to undertake qualification – D
  • Internal Quality Assurance Qualification – D

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of current issues in occupational sector – E
  • Good knowledge of training in the relevant subject- E
  • Good knowledge of assessment procedures.- E
  • An understanding of, and demonstrable commitment to, Safeguarding Children and Young People (Every Child Matters) and Vulnerable Adults.- E

Experience

  • Successful, relevant and current experience in the occupational sector- E
