A housing safety consultancy is seeking a Fire Safety Manager in Manchester for a six-month hybrid role. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in fire safety management within social housing, particularly in high-rise buildings. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance, leading fire safety policies, and conducting site inspections. Our client requires an experienced and qualified Fire Safety Manager for an initial six-month assignment to ensure fire safety compliance across its housing stock. The role involves both office-based duties and regular site visits, including extensive work within high-rise residential blocks, ensuring the highest standards of fire safety are maintained.
You will take a lead role in assessing, monitoring and improving fire safety measures, ensuring compliance with legislation, guiding colleagues and contractors, and supporting the delivery of safe homes for residents.
Lead on fire safety management across all housing assets, including high-rise buildings.
Ensure full compliance with statutory and regulatory fire safety requirements.
Undertake site inspections, audits and reviews of fire safety arrangements.
Oversee the completion and quality of Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs).
Provide expert technical advice to internal teams, senior management and stakeholders.
Support the development and implementation of fire safety policies, procedures and improvement plans.
Liaise with key partners including Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS).
Monitor contractor performance and ensure agreed fire safety standards are met.
Provide guidance, training and support to colleagues on fire safety responsibilities.
Contribute to reports, data analysis and compliance monitoring activities.
Significant fire safety management experience within social housing.
Direct experience working in high-rise blocks (essential).
Strong understanding of fire safety regulations, standards and best practice.
Relevant fire safety qualification(s).
Excellent technical knowledge and ability to interpret legislation.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work independently and carry out regular site visits.
Experience of working with residents, contractors and external agencies.
A proactive, professional approach to compliance and safety improvement.
