Fire Safety Manager – Leading UK University

Location: London (multi–campus coverage)

Salary: GBP54,617 – GBP60,901 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full–Time

Work Type: Professional Services – Operational/Technical Support

Are you a fire safety professional ready to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, complex environment? A prestigious UK university is seeking a Fire Safety Manager to lead fire safety compliance across its diverse estate.

About the Role

As Fire Safety Manager, you'll be part of a dedicated team of safety professionals, providing expert advice and driving strategic and operational compliance with key legislation including:

  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Fire Safety Act 2021
  • Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
  • Building Safety Act 2022

You'll lead fire risk assessments, develop fire safety strategies, deliver training, and engage with internal stakeholders and external regulators. This is a hands–on role with real influence across a large and varied estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and review complex fire risk assessments
  • Advise senior management and stakeholders on fire safety strategy
  • Deliver fire safety training (awareness, marshal, evac chair, extinguishers)
  • Develop Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)
  • Lead fire drills and incident investigations
  • Represent the university in sector–wide fire safety groups
What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Level 4 qualification in Fire Safety (e.g. CFPA Dip or equivalent)
  • Experience in fire risk assessments and strategy development
  • Strong knowledge of BS 9999 / BS 9991, BS 5839, and building construction principles
  • Ability to analyse data, write reports, and communicate effectively
  • Willingness to travel across London campuses and work flexibly (including early mornings/evenings for drills)
