Job summary

VennGroup is seeking a skilled Fire Risk Assessor to support a Council in meeting statutory fire safety obligations across its residential housing portfolio. You will undertake risk assessments for complex buildings, advise senior managers, and work with internal and external partners to improve safety standards.

The role requires a Level 5+ qualification in fire safety or fire safety engineering, plus membership and extensive experience in social housing fire risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience undertaking fire risk assessments in social housing.
• Strong understanding of building construction methods.
• Understanding of fire safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Competence appropriate to the complexity of buildings assessed, in line with best practice and national guidance.

FIRE RISK ASSESSOR

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Fire Risk Assessor to join our client and support the Council in meeting its statutory fire safety obligations.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in protecting residents and staff while driving improvements in fire safety across our residential housing portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Undertake fire risk assessments for complex and non-complex residential buildings, including High-Risk Buildings (HRBs) & Sheltered premises
• Provide competent fire safety advice to senior managers, housing teams, and other stakeholders
• Collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, and support providers to ensure fire risks are effectively assessed and managed
• Contribute to continuous improvement in fire safety management across the Council's residential portfolio

About You

We are seeking a competent and motivated professional who can demonstrate:

• A Level 5 or higher qualification in fire safety or fire safety engineering from a recognised fire sector professional body, appropriate for assessing complex buildings
• Graduate-level or higher membership of a recognised fire or construction professional body
• At least five years' experience undertaking fire risk assessments within the social housing sector, including complex buildings
• A strong understanding of building construction methods, fire safety legislation and relevant regulatory requirements
• The ability to demonstrate competence appropriate to the complexity of buildings assessed, in line with best practice and national guidance

Duration: 3 months

Rate: £315 per day umb

Location: North London - hybrid
