Job summary

Peninsula Group in Manchester is seeking a Fire Risk and Safety Consultant to deliver high quality, cost-effective fire safety consultancy and advice. The role blends home working with field visits to client premises and time in our Manchester office.

You will use your fire safety expertise to carry out risk assessments, provide reports, and advise on fire safety and HSE management systems, while maintaining professional standards and strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in carrying out fire risk assessments.
• Excellent client relationship skills and ability to deliver high-quality consultancy.
• Knowledge of Fire Safety and Health and Safety management systems.
• Accreditation to a recognised Fire safety body preferred.
• Fire Safety training and qualifications to level 3.

Job description

Salary: Up to £49,000 dependent on experience

The Health & Safety Department are looking for a hardworking professional Fire Risk and Safety Consultant with a high level of technical knowledge and experience.
You will have the ability to build strong relationships with the clients and deliver high quality, cost effective consultancy service and advice.

Ideally you will hold a diploma or equivalent level qualification in Fire safety.

This will be a hybrid role requiring work from home, field work on client's premises and work in our Manchester office as required.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Conduct yourself in a professional matter at all times (including appearance, use of PPE, communication etc.) ensuring that you comply with both company and departmental policies, procedures and protocols
• To visit clients premises for the purpose of carrying out agreed contractual work
• Undertake Fire safety visits to client's premises in accordance with departmental protocols and contract requirements, in particular where SLA's are in place
• Submit any relevant reports or other such associated documents in accordance with client demand and departmental protocols
• Advise and instruct clients in the use of Fire safety and Health and Safety Management systems and other relevant technical documents and online services
• Liaise with the Fire and Rescue Services, HSE and other Enforcing Authorities on behalf of clients when required to do so
• Assist clients with accident or other investigations as required
• Advise clients on matters of Fire safety and Health and Safety standards and best practice affecting their business
• Provide management reports as required
• Manage time effectively to provide an effective and efficient service to clients
• Attend company meetings, courses etc. when required to update and maintain professional skills/knowledge
• Look after your company vehicle in the appropriate manner by maintaining cleanliness and security
• Supporting the client through effective crisis management where required
• To Carry out premises fire risk assessments for clients to a suitable standard and technical level.
• Assist with Quality Assurance and validations for a team of Fire Risk Assessors and Validators under the BAFE standard
• To provide telephone/e-mail advice to clients regarding Fire related concerns.
• To attend training and regularly update the team on relevant changes to legislation and guidance
• To provide practical support to clients and other field based consultants regarding fire safety.
• To be familiar with BAFE standards and manage the BAFE system operating for clients within the Peninsula Group.
• To specialise in Fire and have relevant practitioner experience.
• To liaise with external Enforcement, and other, Agencies on behalf of clients, when approved and requested by Senior Management.
• To amend, following a client request, Fire Safety management systems and risk assessments.
• To ensure all advice given meets the requirements of BAFE
• Development of internal Fire safety systems and internal e-learning as requested
• Assist the Technical Manager in the development of Fire Guidance Notes, Standard Phrases and Checklists, covering all legal jurisdictions serviced by Peninsula.
• Any other relevant duties as may be identified by your Line Manager
