About the Role

A leading UK consultancy with offices throughout the country is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to support a major rail infrastructure project. This role is fully flexible, allowing you to work remotely or from any of the consultancy’s UK office locations, with occasional site visits as required.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical fire engineering expertise, must have hands‑on rail project experience, and possess a solid understanding of BS 9992, which is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support fire engineering activities across complex rail infrastructure projects.
  • Develop fire strategies, fire risk assessments, and safety documentation in line with BS 9992 and all relevant UK regulations.
  • Review engineering design proposals, identify fire safety risks, and provide compliance guidance.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary project meetings, design reviews, and audits (virtual or in‑person where required).
  • Provide technical fire safety input throughout project lifecycle — design, construction, and operational stages.
  • Produce structured, high‑quality technical reports and maintain accurate project records.
