Job summary

Brandon James in Yorkshire is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join a specialist fire engineering consultancy and support projects across Yorkshire. You will develop fire strategies from early design through to completion, reviewing architectural plans and advising on escape, fire resistance and compartmentation.

You will work on residential, commercial, education and mixed-use developments, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, UK fire safety legislation and relevant British

Qualifications

• Degree in Fire Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Experience in a fire engineering or fire safety consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of Approved Document B and relevant British Standards.
• Experience producing fire strategies and technical reports.
• Understanding of UK fire safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Good communication and client-facing skills.
• IFE membership or chartership progression is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Job description

A specialist fire engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join their team and support projects across Yorkshire. The successful Fire Engineer will work on a wide range of residential, commercial, education and mixed-use developments, providing technical fire safety input from early design through to completion.

The Fire Engineer's Role

Responsibilities will include:

• Developing detailed fire strategies for new-build and existing properties
• Reviewing architectural plans and design proposals
• Advising on means of escape, fire resistance and compartmentation
• Providing technical guidance in line with Building Regulations and relevant standards
• Supporting projects through regulatory approval
• Preparing fire engineering reports and technical documentation
• Attending design meetings and liaising with key project stakeholders
• Providing technical support to junior team members where appropriate

The Fire Engineer

The successful Fire Engineer will ideally have:

• A degree in Fire Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Experience working within a fire engineering or fire safety consultancy
• Strong knowledge of Approved Document B and relevant British Standards
• Experience producing fire strategies and technical reports
• Good understanding of UK fire safety legislation and regulatory requirements
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Membership of the IFE or progress towards chartership would be advantageous
