Job summary

Butler Rose is seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant in Chester for a 15-month fixed term contract. You will own statutory reporting, financial accounting and tax compliance across group entities, working closely with senior finance leaders to ensure robust controls and accurate reporting.

The role requires a professional with UK GAAP (FRS 102) knowledge, an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification and strong Excel skills, plus experience in statutory accounts and external audits.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification with ≥2 years' post-qualification experience.
• External audit background preferred.
• Strong UK GAAP knowledge (FRS 102).
• Experience preparing statutory accounts and consolidated financial statements.
• Knowledge of corporation tax and VAT, including partial exemption.
• Advanced Excel; experience with ledgers, reconciliations.
• Strong data analysis and financial modelling skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship-building.
• Proactive and adaptable in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Statutory reporting for statutory and consolidated financial statements and audit coordination.
• Manage monthly accounting for holding companies and group entities.
• Support corporation tax compliance and liaise with advisers.
• Maintain strong controls and data integrity.
• Provide reporting for lending and asset-based finance activities.
• Prepare and maintain covenant reporting.
• Lead change initiatives to improve processes and reporting.
• Act as key system user ensuring data accuracy and efficient processes.
